What is the difference between a pew envelope and a boxed envelope?

Pew envelopes can be used by anyone for weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or occasional contributions of cash or checks.

Boxed envelopes are pre-printed with the date and a giving number. These are available upon request from our Financial Associate.

Contributions made in either of these envelopes are trackable for tax reporting purposes only if the envelopes are filled out completely.

What is a giving number?

A giving number is needed in order to have your contributions tracked for personal tax reporting purposes. Contact our Financial Associate to be assigned a unique giving number. Giving numbers can be assigned per family or if you prefer, per individual.

How do I set up making contributions using personal online banking?

You can submit automatic weekly, biweekly, monthly or occasional special contributions through your bank’s free online bill payment service. Your bank sends SJCC the payment, which will be recorded towards your giving records just as if you had written the check yourself. It is the most inexpensive way to contribute.

Enter San Jose as a “Payee” or “Company” in your online bank account.

On the payee setup screen at your bank’s web site, use the following:
