WHAT IS OUR vision in two words?
WHAT WE SEE...
We live in a nation where nearly half of the population feels excluded, undervalued, and alone. Meaningful relationships with depth and sincerity seem elusive. Jesus found broken and hurting people and shared his compassionate message of hope through personal relationships. We believe this culture can be healed through meaningful life-changing relationships.
WHAT WE BELIEVE...
God is leading our family at San Jose to change lives through Jesus-centered relationships. (1) We will intentionally engage with friends, neighbors, and community organizations to reach out to those who feel alone. (2) We will raise up hundreds of guides who will take thousands of people on a life-changing journey through relationally-charged, disciple-making groups. Within the next ten years (3) we will become a church that launches church-planting teams in Jacksonville, with the tools to make and mature disciples.
Imagine the thrill of watching lives renewed as God stirs within us a passion to influence generation after generation to love and follow Jesus.

HOW WILL WE MEET THE NEEDS OF THE LONELY?
A Partnership with Young Lives.
Young Lives, an outreach of the Young Life organization, is committed to introducing teen moms to Christ to help them grow in their faith through meaningful relationships. You can imagine teen moms feel so alone. They are unlike their teenaged friends because they are raising a child. They are unlike many moms, because they are teens. We want to meet the needs of these teen moms with meaningful, transformative relationships.
The Outreach Team will create ministries within our church, as well as partnerships with community organizations, to meet the needs of the lonely and isolated.
This year the Outreach Team will provide the creative genius for San Jose’s various small groups & classes to meet the needs of the lonely and isolated. Next year the outreach team will seek bigger initiatives that align with our vision.
HOW WILL WE FORM MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE LONELY?
Community Table is a simple invitation to neighbors and friends outside of SJ to a simple dinner with the purpose of creating meaningful relationships. Sometimes our lives fall in a rut. Many of us stop meeting new friends as we get older. Sometimes our circle of friends gets smaller and like-minded. It can become difficult to form meaningful relationships if we don’t become intentional. It is impossible to make disciples if we never invite anyone new into our lives. Community table is our opportunity to begin life-changing relationships.
Hobby groups are people with similar interests gathering together to have fun and build deeper relationships. At San Jose we have a diverse group of people who share similar interests. It is easier to connect around a game, sport, interest, or talent. If we want to build meaningful relationships sharing a hobby is a great way to start. It is also one of the best ways to invite others into the San Jose family.
HOW WILL WE CREATE A CHURCH COMMUNITY WITH MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIPS?
The Event Team is a group of people of all generations who come together to make fun more fun … and to provide events where we can build friendships. This team will consist of party people who can brainstorm ideas for all of us to enjoy as a family. The Event Team will be responsible for the ideas, the planning, and execution of the event.
Mystery Dinner is a way for you to step out of your comfort zone and get to know your church family better through a meal at a local home. Mystery Dinner helps our church family build meaningful relationships with each other.
Oasis is a ministry to connect caring SJCC members with our senior members, especially when special needs arise. The goal is to encourage and assist senior members who feel lonely & alone, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated as important members of the body. Oasis helps with Visitation, Transportation, Medical Assistance, Home Repairs, Yardwork, Meal Preparation and Computers.
HOW WILL WE MAKE DISCIPLES?
Circle Up is a small circle of 2-4 people who will gather together to study the essentials of the Gospel and our place in it. Circle Up is for those looking to those figure out Christianity and who Jesus is, and for new Christians wanting some practical tools about how to live as a Christian.
Renew Groups are gatherings of 8-12 people focused on the pursuit of transformation and discipleship. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Renew groups are not a Bible study or a life group; they are different than any other kind of group because they focus on relationships in the pursuit of maturity in Christ. If you know the basics of faith, but are looking for a way to find greater maturity in Christ then Renew Groups are the best place to begin.
